End of Semester Blog Entry

This course was able to help me answer my "burning" question of "how has technology changed the way students learn in the math curriculum?" During my search on my topic and sending out a survey I was able to received great feedback from my peers and professors in regards to the use of having interactive whiteboards and SMART boards in a classroom. By receiving feedback it has helped me understand and learn the benefits and challenges of incorporating digital technology into the math curriculum. Although technology is advancing I have learned that integrating just technology into your lesson planning is not always beneficial as well. Having my peers comment on my videos has helped me develop new questions towards my topic. I was able to receive constructive feedback from my critical friend which helped me with my learning. I was also able to give constructive feedback to my critical friend on her topic that helped her develop new questions. I continue to do further research because the more knowledge I gain the more success I will become when teaching math to my students.

Technology helps students visually see on the whiteboard of what the teacher is explaining. This helps students understand and makes learning more exciting and enjoyable for all students.

Though majority of teachers use technology to in their teaching, technology is also very beneficial for organizing of students' abilities and understandings. Teachers must know which students are struggling and require extra help and having that organization skill will decrease this.

First Blog Entry

My goals for this course is to learn all the different kinds of technology elementary schools have to offer. In my first year, my placement was in a kindergarten classroom and I saw the many different ways technology was used in the classroom for their learning. It inspired myself, as a future teacher that technology is an excellent way to help teach students learn.

Through elementary I had little experience with technology when it came to my learning. As I progressed through junior high and high school technology was increased in my classrooms. Mostly, it was just school computers that I used. I wished there was more technology used in my classrooms as I think it would of helped with my learning, especially now that I see whiteboards in almost all classrooms.

The "burning" question I would like to research and know more about is "how has technology changed the way students learn?" In more detail whiteboards are used in many classrooms to help students learn and understand. Since I am minoring in math, whiteboards are an excellent way to help teach students learn as students seem to learn more visually.
